Client: Chatrabhuj Narsee School, Kandivali (CNS Kandivali)
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra
Duration: 75 Days (Including Manufacturing Time)
The project entailed the construction of a 15,000 sq. ft non-infill turf running track.
Background
Chatrabhuj Narsee School, Kandivali, established through a collaboration between the Methibai Devraj Gundecha Foundation and the Chatrabhuj Narsee family, is a prominent international school in Mumbai. Driven by its commitment to holistic student development, the institution embarked on an initiative to upgrade its athletic infrastructure alongside its academic facilities. As part of this vision, the school prioritized the design of its primary sports feature: the running track.
The previous synthetic track at the institution slowly deteriorated by requiring persistently expensive maintenance work and showing physical signs of breakdown, particularly in Mumbai’s demanding environmental conditions. High upkeep expenses alongside fading and cracking on the track made the institution decide to find a smarter sustainable replacement solution.
The Challenge
- A new synthetic track was needed to replace the existing one around sports zones because the old track showed severe deterioration.
- The project required to be carried out within the specified 15,000 sq. ft. area.
- A surface that combined durability with safety and required minimal care was required.
- The project needed to align with the existing sports facilities without any disruptions.
Our Solution
We had proposed a 30mm non-infill turf running track to the school, following an evaluation of the space and their feedback. The solution featured specialized running and sports-oriented design specifications that provided:
- Factory-tufted markings and lines that provided permanent track features, preventing paint failure and cracking.
- No rubber or sand infill so students could enjoy a secure and clean running surface.
- A track that was expected to last between seven and ten years as a weather-resistant and strong structure.
Our team first removed the existing track, then repaired and levelled the concrete base to create a solid foundation for the new installation
Project Execution
Phase 1: The demolition and cleanup of old synthetic surfaces.
Phase 2: Consisted of concrete work that involved both leveling and repair tasks.
Phase 3: The factory produced custom-sized turf rolls that contained integrated production lines.
Phase 4: Installation of the new 30mm non-infill turf surfaces.
The entire work was completed in 75 days, including turf production.
The Result
CNS Kandivali now maintains a high-quality, dedicated running track that serves its students through smart design and low-maintenance performance. The track seamlessly fits around the sports facilities, making full use of the available space.
The solution has brought CNS Kandivali a budget-friendly upgrade that has established years of protected safety conditions in their students’ running areas.
This project emphasizes how practical design paired with intelligent materials guarantees permanent worth at schools for their sports facilities.
